Design
Another aspect of Web design is the designing itself, which involves an understanding of Web sites, Internet protocols, user expectations, functionality, and so much more. It is imperative that a Web designer is comfortable working with HTML and CSS, which determine the layout of Web pages. Designing a Web site may also require animation, so being comfortable with Adobe Flash is a plus, as well. Scripting
Additionally, it is equally important to have a clear understanding of various scripting languages, including JavaScript, in order to create dynamic Web pages - in other words, to make a Web page interactive. Scripting languages allow a designer to incorporate forms and data validation into a Web page that increase a site's functionality. |
Psychology
There is a certain amount of psychology involved in Web design, such as knowing how people will react to certain colors. There is even some marketing that goes into Web design as a designer creates the look, feel, and functionality of a site's design. Understanding how people think and react to certain things is beneficial as a site takes shape and is maintained over time are very important aspects of Web design. Adobe
There are many Adobe applications that are useful in Web design. A good Web designer should be able to utilize Photoshop, Flash, and Dreamweaver, at the least. However, Illustrator and Fireworks are also extremely helpful in Web and image design. |
Computers
A good Web designer must understand how a computer works, as well as how to maintain an operating system. As a designer, it is helpful to understand how a computer communicates with the Internet, how to set up a network, and how to protect the network from outside interference. In addition, understanding a motherboard is very helpful when working with computers in any way, shape, or form. This allows an individual to upgrade, repair, or replace components as necessary. This also allows an individual to troubleshoot technical issues with the system hardware and BIOS or network settings.
